Xbox Live Marathon

Hour #5 - 10:00am

Gears of War 2 continues... Horde mode continues. We took a little bio-break and powered up on beverages. We also of course take a few moments to write in this blog (I do).

I am not really a huge fan of the Security map so far... maybe we just don't have the right location... but for some reason river seems to be more frantic and fun... but the security system does help to hold back the tide at times.

As of right now, we are half way through... wave 25... we slowed down a bit as we were goofing off with various weapons.

Hour #4 - 9:00am

Crazy that this is only just beginning. I haven't played this much Xbox in a long time... so a few hours in and it is already feeling like quite the indulgence.

I have a feeling things (and people) are going to get pretty crazy by the end. I can already sense the insanity creeping into our brainz.

We have already have three breakfasts it seems...

Hour #3 - 8:00am

Horde mode action. Playing the security map... working our way through slowly... about to start Wave 20. We are starting to dip into some treats and snacks.... sun flower seeds... more coffee... the usual mid morning stuff!

So yeah... back into it... only 30 waves to go I guess?

Hour #2 - 7:00am

So Death Tank is pretty fun. The real-time scorched earth twist was really rad. We will definitely go back to this later in the day. The action is intense and there are lots of cheering/yelling moments.

Steve's wife Tammy made a McDonald's run... so the smell of egg McMuffins is intense in the room.

Now we are jumping into some Horde Mode for Gears... our first non-arcade title today... and I am sure it won't be the last.

Hour #1 - 6:00am

We played through Aegis Wing on co-op... picked up a few achievements. It took about 45 minutes. We are now loading up some Death Tank (scorched earth action)... a game like this brings back memories of hanging out in the library at school playing scorched earth on some CGA IBM PC.

As far as food goes, we started off with some smoothies... and coffee... nothing too crazy. We jumped in quickly so no real time for breakfast.

Get ready... Launch!

Here we go! Kicking off the marathon with some free-to-play action. A little co-op Aegis Wing... we want to start it off slow of course...

Oh Noes!

The first emergency, not enough power strips! I forgot to bring mine. Will there be enough holes in the wall to rock the POWER? We shall see...

And so it begins... 5:30am

Getting all set up. Ripping up Steve's apartment, setting up tables and monitors. It is part Xbox Live, part LAN party.

We hope to get the gaming on in about 20 minutes.

THE Game list for Feb 21st

Here is the planned game list with our goals this go around:

1. Gears of War 2 - Complete all levels of Horde mode
2. Call of Duty: World at War - Complete it on co-op
3. Halo 3 - Lots o' multi-player
4. Any arcade games as filler

24 hours should fly by with a list like this! I remember the first marathon the pickings were slim with the games.

It has been awhile... next marathon, Feb 21 2009

It has been sometime since we got the band back together for a 24 hour Xbox Marathon... since the last one... I have had another kid... started 360voice... moved to another state... joined gamerDNA.com... all fun stuff!

So this year for my 32nd birthday, we are having another 24 hour Xbox Live Marathon. Right now we are looking to have the following participants:

1. ChangeAgent
2. Fatty Chubs
3. Wormy

We might get one more or so... can't go too many because we will be playing some co-op titles...

More details to follow though. As always I will use this site to document the event.
